OBSTETRIC ULTRASOUND
one of the most basic methods for checking the health of the fetus is ultrasound
to date there is no evidence that ultrasound can cause harm to the fetus
the following ultrasounds should be performed during each pregnancy:
first ultrasound of pregnancy
in the 6th-8th week of pregnancy
identification of the position of the gestational sac
identification of a singleton or multiple pregnancy
identification of the amniotic sac and the lecithal sac
fetal heart function and heart rate are confirmed
it is carried out between the 11th and 13th week of pregnancy
determining the risk of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus
and the exact age of the pregnancy and the possible date of delivery
It is carried out from the 21st to the 24th week of pregnancy
checking the anatomy of the fetus (whether all the organs are present and in the correct anatomical position)
all organs of the fetus are checked by systems (upper and lower limbs, brain and facial structures, heart and its connections, spine, kidneys and bladder, genital system, diaphragm, stomach, gall bladder, abdominal wall)
the development of the fetus is determined
the umbilical vessels, amniotic fluid, the structure and position of the placenta are checked
the length of the endocervix is measured transvaginally to determine the risk of preterm delivery
the 31st week of pregnancy
checking the condition of the placenta and the fetal supply by controlling the blood flow in specific vessels of the fetus
amniotic fluid is measured
the resistance of the pregnant woman’s uterine arteries is measured
depending on the results, this ultrasound may need to be repeated a few times until the end of the pregnancy
